The Republic of Uzbekistan – is a state in Central Asia.Uzbekistan is situated in the area between Amudarya and Sirdarya rivers and has an area of 447,4 thousand sq.km. (55th largest country in the world by the area).It stretches 1,425 kilometers from east to west and 930 kilometers from north to south. Dry land occupies 425,900 sq.km.of the territory and 22,000 sq.km. are water area. Turan lowland and Tian Shan mountains are situated to the northeast of Uzbekistan and to the east – Pamir-Altay mountain ridge. Kyzyl-Kum desert is situated to the north of Uzbekistan. The territory of the Republic borders on Kazakhstan to the northeast, with Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to the east and southeast, with Turkmenistan to the west and Afghanistan to the south. Total length of the state border makes up 6221 kilometers. The border length with Kazakhstan is 2203 km., Kyrgyzstan – 1099km., Tajikistan – 1161km., Turkmenistan – 1621 km. and with Afghanistan – 137 km.

The political system of Uzbekistan
Tashkent is a capital of the Republic of Uzbekistan (with the population of about 3 mln. people).
Uzbekistan – is a presidential republic. The head of the state is the president, who is elected for 7 years.Under the Constitution, the president has a wide latitude.
Executive power is exercised by the government, which is headed by the Prime Minister, appointed by the president.The system of executive bodies isconsistof ministries, state committees, services and agencies.
Legislative power is exercised by the OliyMajlis (Supreme Council) of the Republic of Uzbekistan, it consists of two chambers - the Legislative Chamber (lower chamber) and the Senate (second chamber).The Judicial branch in the republic is represented by a system of courts headed by the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Following the elections in 2009, Parliament passed the following parties: PDPU (People's Democratic Party of Uzbekistan - the successor to the Communist Party of Uzbekistan), LDPU (Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan), "Milliytiklanish" (Democratic Party of Uzbekistan), "Adolat" (Social Democratic Party of Uzbekistan), as well as the Ecological Movement of Uzbekistan.
The State Flag of the Republic of Uzbekistan
TheLaw “Onthe State Flag of the Republic of Uzbekistan” was adopted on the 18th of November, 1991 at the VIII Session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The symbolism of the National Flag of the Republic of Uzbekistan continues the best traditions inherent in the flags of the great powers that existed on the territory of our country, at the same time it reflects the natural features of the country.National and cultural identity of the people.Sky blue color on the flag is a symbol of the blue sky and clean water.This color is respected in the East, back in the times it was chosen by Amir Temur for its flag.
White coloris a symbol of peace and purity. The young independent state must overcome various obstacles on his way. The white color on the flag means a good wish, for the path to be clear and bright.
Red stripesare symbolof thevitality. Pulsating in every living being, a symbol of life itself
Green color is a symbol of the personification of nature. Currentlythe movement of the environment protection spreading around the world and green is also symbolizing it.
Crescent corresponds to the centuries-old traditions of the peoples of Uzbekistan. The Crescent and a Star are symbols of the cloudless sky and peace. There are 12 stars on our Flag.The number 12 is considered a sign of perfection.
State Emblem of the Republic of Uzbekistan
The Law “Onthe State Emblem of the Republic of Uzbekistan” was adopted on the 2d of July, 1992 at the X Session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
A bird Khumo with the spread wings is represented in the center of the Emblem, which is a symbol of happiness and love of freedom. The great Uzbek poet AlisherNavoi described the Khumo bird as the kindest of all living beings.
There is an octagonal at the top of the Emblem which symbolizing the formation of the Republic and a crescent with a star inside of it.
The image of the sunis a wish that the path our country would be always illuminated by bright light. At the same time the sun points to the unique suitable climatic conditions in the republic.
Spikes are symbol of daily bread. Stems, with drop-down cotton bolls - the richness of our sunny land, which made it famous all over the world.Wheat and cotton bolls, tangled with the ribbon of the State flag, means the consolidation of the peoples living in the republic.
